Date:  Feb 13, 2026 - March 8, 2026
Time:  Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm. and Sunday at 2:30 pm.
New York City before the turmoil of the sixties stirred the country out of its complacency. Les and Bess are about to have their talk show canceled because of lack of interest. Since their marriage is based on their show, they may have to cancel their marriage as well. Les wants to go to Houston to be a sports announcer his dream. Bess wants to stay in New York. Will Les and Bess stay together? Will their budding radical of a son straighten up? Will their daughter actually marry the sailor she has just met? Will their long distance phone call from Princess Grace of Monaco ever come through? Stay tuned...

Character Descriptions for Breakfast with Les and Bess
Bess:

Les:

Shelby:

David:

Roger:

Nate:
A handsome woman, about 50-60ish. Smart, stylish New York career woman, thoroughly enjoys being a sophisticated member of the social set and a celebrity. Her career has always come before all else. Public image very important to her, too important. So wrapped up in herself, she isn’t unusually sensitive or even aware of others. Never deliberately malicious, just completely immersed in the things she feels are important. Hasn’t admitted to herself that her life isn’t everything she wants it to be.

Attractive, charming man, about 50-60ish. Sense of humor. Easy-going ex-baseball announcer and sports columnist, and he misses it. Hates his daily routine and the phony social obligations. Badly needs to change his life around and feel motivated again. Honestly believes that all of his and Bess’s success has made them miserable. Enjoys needling Bess but desperately wants them to be happy and in love again. Recognizes their problems and copes with them, but is tired and fed up with merely coping.

Cute, slightly ditzy, 20ish Impulsive and kooky but in a sweet way. Badly needs attention and love but can pout and be defensive about her right to have it. Full of life and energy. Loves her parents and brother even though it hasn’t always been easy.

Rebellious, budding revolutionary typical of the ’60s. 18-20ish. Would like to change the world overnight. Off-beat attitude toward life. A bit of a wise-cracking trouble-maker but really just a little mixed up. The lack of his parents’ attention and approval has made his outlook cynical. Not really a bad kid, just always seems to be in hot water because of his sometimes outrageous behavior.

A handsome, beefy U.S. Naval Ensign. 20-25ish. Clean-cut, upright, practical Mormon from Utah. Stable and secure. A healthy, normal American citizen totally unaccustomed to the New York "scene." At times, he is literally at sea as to how to handle his crazy new-found family.

Tall, lanky, 45-60ish. Les's old broadcasting and drinking pal. Everybody’s good-time buddy, ready for whatever comes along. Can definitely not handle his liquor, but takes great pains to hide it—unsuccessfully however.
