    I.S.P.Y. Theater Camp


    Theater Camp (Summer Session 6/20 - 7/1/11)

    This two-week, 70 - hour camp (9 am - 4 pm)  will be offered this summer at two locations: Smithfield Little Theatre and Thomas Nelson Community College. Children 9 – 16 will participate in theater technique workshops during the day that emphasize the building of a closely knit ensemble. Children who enjoy working in a group and have the ability for sustained concentration have fun and flourish in our camp. Your child must be able to attend the full session, plus performance dates in order to be accepted.

    Children will attend classes in: Theater History/Basics, Acting Instruction and Production Design. This summer camp will culminate in public performances of ArtReach Children’s Theatre adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. Camp tuition includes camp t-shirt and two free tickets for performance.

    * Your child should bring a non-perishable lunch and snack. Water will be provided.

    9 am - 4 pm Performing Arts Syllabus
    9:00 - 9:30         Warm-up/ ensemble building activity – Theatrer Games Improvisation
    9:30 – 10:20      Class 1 – Theater Basics – Each day will be a different topic on theater etiquette and responsibilities with Q & A
    10:20 - 11-10      Class 2 – Theater History/Activities – Each day will consist of writing/drawing/discussing theater technique using the show as a model.
    11:10 – 12:00    Class 3 – Acting Instruction – A “how to” on memorizing lines, how to create a character, staging and vocal projection.
    12:00 - 12:50      Lunch and a video (usually a theater related film)* or some other theater game.
    12: 50 – 1:40     Class 4 – Technical Instruction/Production Design (Tech/Scene/Costume Meet) – an intro into the wonderful world of “tech” and the opportunities available for further artistic expression.
    1:40 - 4:00         Rehearsal for the show (Break and Snack during this session)
